Can't upgrade to iOS 5?
Hurray! iOS 5 is out today for downloads!
Wait a minute.. I've been trying to upgrade this stupid phone since 4 hours ago
and nothing seems to work, while getting Error Messages 3002, 3004, 3014, 3194, 3200 etc from iTunes
If you have been trying to upgrade to iOS 5
with your older model iPhones or Gameboy,
go bang your head against the wall
This upgrade is not for you!
Here are a few options of what you may wanna do
Try at your own risk!
Keep trying to update with iTunes relentlessly
while singing Aung Lang Syne to a photo of Steve Jobs
Download the firmware externally (through links below)
iPhone 4 (GSM)
iPad 2 (GSM)
iPad 2 (Wi-Fi)
iPod touch (gen 3)
iPod touch (gen 4)
Go to iTunes, hold down shift (Windows) or Options (Mac)
Select the file you just downloaded from above
and click update
Put your phone in DFU (Restore) mode
1. Switch off phone
2. Hold POWER and HOME button
3. On Apple logo, release POWER button while continue to Hold HOME button
4. Open iTunes
5. Upon detecting your iDevice, you're in DFU mode
6. Click on Restore
My advice is to wait a couple of days
till 312m Americans, 1,339m Chinese, 1,210m Indians, 22m Australians (hmm... maybe not) and 5m Singaporeans finish updating their firmware before you do so..
Get a Samsung Galaxy SII, Motorola Bionic or HTC Titan from your nearest store
which could be much faster and less frustrating process
