Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers 2011

We're on our way to Toowoomba
(-1)

Everyone was going there
so the traffic was quite terrible
Should have left earlier

Finally arrived at Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers
16 - 25 September 2011

Now in its 62nd year, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has been growing bigger, brighter and more colourful each year. It is the longest running floral event of its kind in Australia as the premiere celebration of flowers, food, wine, culture, entertainment and all things spring!

With a vibrant street parade, fascinating flowers, and floral displays, fabulous food, wondrous wine, awe-inspiring art, imaginative interactive workshops and exceptional entertainment, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has something for everyone!

This was the exact location where footages of
cars getting washed away by the floods shocked millions worldwide

Lots of people brought chalks to draw on the streets
while waiting for the Grand Central Floral Parade to start

The parade begins...

The parade lasted for about 1.5 hours
It was massive with lots of vibrant colours and characters

After that we went to Panoramic Drive

The scenery is awesome!

Authentic Aussie BBQ with the Schindlers

We went for an after-lunch stroll

Prickly Pear (Opuntia)
Cactus figs are often used to make candies, jelly, or drinks such as vodka or lemonade

While we're strolling, a stranger who lives there
invited us over for some tea (Wolf Creek!)
Being curious Asians, we accepted the offer of Aussie hospitality.

This is an ancient road used by Aboriginals
Untouched since then
